This week we will begin the process of restoring the look of this beautiful old porch in the Drake neighborhood. The original columns are coming apart, ceiling has been repair and covered with plywood over the years and the deck is in need of replacing.

The homeowners have decided to take on the responsibility of removing the exposed plywood ceiling and the original beadboard above that to expose the framing so we can make any reapirs necessary then install the new V-groove tongue and groove ceiling and sofit.

Here you can see the damage done by years of wear and potential improper gutter drainage.

The new fiberglass columns have been ordered and are now on site, T&G v-groove will be picked up and installed as step one begins.
The homeowners have removed the plywood ceiling and exposed all the framing and a few extras...

Now knowing what we are in for, we came up with a plan to repair the rotted framing which we need in order to install the new ceiling and maybe even remove some of the old residence...

You can now see framiing repairs have been made and the first couple rows of the new v-groove ceiling have been put in...

New ceiling and soffits are now installed and all new moulding and cedar facia is onsite awaiting to be installed.
We are also waiting for the new cedar deck to be delivered.

As we await the deliver of the decking, it was decided that we should remove the old facia and trim while it is all apart and replace with new cedar. Now completed, the ceiling area is looking spectcular! 10.12.2006
